    The Newcastle metropolitan area is the second most populated area in the Australian state of New South Wales and includes most of the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Local Government Areas. It is the hub of the Greater Newcastle area which includes most parts of the Local Government Areas of City of Newcastle, City of Lake Macquarie, City of Cessnock, City of Maitland and Port Stephens Council.

    Situated 162 kilometres NNE of Sydney, at the mouth of the Hunter River, it is the predominant city within the Hunter Region. Famous for its coal, Newcastle is presently the largest coal exporting harbour in the world, exporting over 97 Mt of coal in 2009?10 with plans to expand annual capacity to 180 Mt by 2013. Beyond the city, the Hunter Region possesses large coal deposits. Geologically, the area is located in the central-eastern part of the Sydney basin.

    The journey starts by heading south to the Central Coast region. The morning highlight is a visit to the world renowned Australian Wildlife and Reptile Park located in a rural bushland setting. Get up close to many of Australia's weird and wonderful animals  - Koalas, Kangaroos and Wallabies. You will also see one of Australias largest collection of snakes and reptiles! Your private tour guide will escort you through the park and you will be able to hand feed and pat the Kangaroos!

    The next stop is at the seaside town of Gosford where we provide a delicious morning tea at a stunning waterfront location!

    The tour then heads to Norah Head and Soldiers Beach. We visit the historic Norah Head Light House, located at the
    Northern end of the Central Coast (this is roughly the halfway point between Sydney and Newcastle) the views here are amazing and sometimes you can even see whales breaching depending on the season. 

    If you are feeling energetic we take you on an informative tour to the very top of the lighthouse which involves 96 steps - the 360 degreesviews from the top are spectacular! If you choose not to climb to the top of the lighthouse you would still find that it is great place to visit. The beaches beside and below the light house are quite spectacular.
    In the afternoon you visit Newcastle city area, Nobby's Beach and the stunning Merewether Beach.

    There would be opportunities to stop for lunch at The Entrance or Norah Head - lunch options include fish and chips on the waterfront, restaurants or quaint local cafes. Lunch is at the guests expense - we can recommend many great locations catering to all tastes and budgets

    Lovedale Brewery:
    Located within the Hunter Valley Crowne Plaza, the 12 + award-winning Lovedale Brewery is a must see. Showcasing up to 7 craft beers at any one time, there is always something to satisfy the beer connoisseur and the beer curious. The brewery also has its own bottling line, meaning take away beers from Lovedale are some of the freshest in the region.

    Potters Brewery:
    Located at Potter's Resort, surrounded by the old brick remnants of the pottery kilns, Hunter Beer Co is the oldest operating brewery in the Hunter Valley. The brewery produces a range of world-renowned, award winning beers, and a visit here is an experience no beer lover should miss. Hunter Beer Co produces several signature beers, such as their German-Style Kolsch, and their crowd favourite; the Slaked Magpie Vanilla Porter.
