Newtown, a suburb of Sydney's inner west is located approximately four kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, straddling the local government areas of the City of Sydney and Marrickville Council in the state of New South Wales, Australia.

King Street is the main street of Newtown and centre of commercial and entertainment activity. The street follows the spine of a long ridge that rises up near Sydney University and extends to the south, becoming the Princes Highway at its southern end.

Enmore Road branches off King Street towards the suburb of Enmore at Newtown Bridge, where the road passes over the railway line at Newtown Station. Enmore Road and King Street together comprise a 9.1-kilometre round-trip of some 600 shopfronts. The main shopping strip of Newtown is the longest and most complete commercial precinct of the late Victorian and Federation period in Australia. King Street is often referred to as "Eat Street" in the media due to the large number of cafés, pubs and restaurants of various cultures. Cafes, restaurants and galleries can also be found in the streets surrounding King Street.

    $65.00 AUD Book

Come a tour through the back streets of Newtown and Enmore on a 2-hour discovery walk of the ever changing street art scene.

Our Culture Scouts, who are a mix of artists, designers and creators, will guide you through. They’ll reveal how mural creation has shifted from illegal to coveted; pointing out original works by Sydney street artists now internationally recognised, and explaining Sydney’s place in the wider graffiti scene.

Feel like a local as you meet resident street artists, muralists, brewers, baristas, creatives and characters, who enrich your experience with their own anecdotes of the maverick twin communities.

Led by street art connoisseur Melinda Vassallo*, this Inner-West tour is a unique opportunity to walk along the backstreets of Newtown and Enmore and discover the interior world of graffiti and wall tagging. Swoop between side alleys and residential streets, unravelling an intricate history of industrial towns and suburbia being fundamental to the flourishing of street art. You will get to learn the names and language of off-brand street artists who became art veterans in their own right.

You will also wander along King Street and Enmore Road, famous for their unique and quirky shops, restaurants, bars and cafes.

Ticket price includes a craft beer.
*If Melinda is unavailable on the day, don't worry, an equally respected and knowledgeable guide will lead the tour!

As Australia’s first neighbourhood, the Rocks was literally cut from the sandstone cliffs that rise above Sydney Harbour. As we walk, your guide will carve out a narrative of this neighbourhood’s history, starting with the convicts that were forced to settle here and their amazing tales of survival and entrepreneurship.

Along the way, we will make pit stops at some classic local pubs in the heart of the Rocks. From there, we explore the once seedy back alleyways, which today are very safe, of course, but still feature many great photo opportunities.

After a drink at another historic pub, we delve deeper into some of the unique and most off-the-beaten-track parts of the Rocks as we visit an archaeological site like no other in Australia.
